Gary C. Studley Obituary

Gary Clifton Studley February 2, 1945 - January 29, 2017 Exeter, NH Gary Studley, also known as "Gus" to his high school friends, passed away peacefully in his home after a brief illness. Gary graduated from Cohassett High School in Massachusetts in 1963 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1972 as Construction Electrician - Petty Officer, Third Rank. He had a brief tour in Southeast Asia, stationed at Danang, Vietnam from October 1966-1967. He met the mother of his daughters while stationed in Rota, Spain, in 1968. They later returned to the United States and settled in Ipswich, MA, where he enlisted as a Telephone Technician Second Class, with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve until 1979. He was an employee at Verizon for over 35 years. Gary was a big early rock-n-roll fan, and especially loved the Beatles and Rolling Stones. He had a deep passion for early American history, collecting early postcards from the New England area, and attending his grandsons' sports games. His family's heritage of the ocean, the coast and islands of Massachusetts were also very important to him. He loved driving his Mustang and old cars, and was an avid supporter of his local AA community where he made many friends. Gary is preceded in death by his father, Leroy C. Studley and his mother, Vera L. Studley. He is survived by his former spouse, Maria del Carmen Studley of Ipswich, MA, his daughters, Monica Wright and her husband Tim Wright of Scarborough, ME, Olivia Studley and her finance Keith McClearn of Salem, MA, and Leonora Studley and partner Ryan McDonnell of Medford, MA. He adored his grandsons, Alfred "Trey" Wright and Noah Wright, also of Scarborough, ME. He is also survived by his sisters Suzanne Megathlin of Yarmouth, ME and Lee Anne Reed of Hollis, ME, in addition to many nephews. Family and friends are invited to a memorial celebration on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St. Exeter, NH. There will be a visiting hour from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Susan F.
