Mary Katherine Crow Obituary

Mary Katherine (Kay) Crow passed away peacefully on February 15, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. She was 97.

Kay was the oldest of 8 children, growing up in multiple towns in Massachusetts. She became a Registered Nurse through Mass General Hospital and served in the Navy during the Korean War where she met her husband, Charles (Charlie) Crow. Kay had a Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University and retired from the VA Hospital in Bedford MA.

Kay had a love for travel. When her 5 children were young, she taught them the joys of camping and exploration. She would travel with them (sometimes bringing their friends, too), visiting nearly all states including multiple trips to Hawaii. After her retirement, for 10 years she would hit the road in her van during the winter months, either alone or with one or more of her sisters, visiting the sights and family members in the US or jumping on a cruise ship to wherever it might be going. She loved the adventure! At Christmas time, her tree was always adorned with Red Sox ornaments, paying tribute to her favorite team.

Kay was kind to everyone, she made sure the birds and wild animals were well-fed, and her heart was always filled with appreciation and gratitude. At home she used her green thumb to grow spectacular flowers and more tomatoes than her family could ever eat. She would knit and crochet, donating items to church fairs, and she would bake cookies to have on hand for her children’s visits or for anyone who popped through the door. There was always something being made!

Above all, Kay put her family first. She was the loving mother of 5 children and their spouses and partners: Elaine and Steve Molleur, Diane and Larry Coe, Laurie Crow and Matt Chisholm, Paul Crow and Helen Coiley, June Crow and Joe; grandmother of Edward Epstein, Michelle Coe, Alex Coe, Katie Pearson, Sarah Molleur and Elizabeth Molleur; devoted sister to Peter Molander and his wife Mary and the late Anna Krohn, Winnie Hanby, Peggy Leahy, Bill Molander, Jerry Molander and Dorothy Molander. Her husband of 50 years, Charlie Crow, predeceased her in 2004.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Services will be private.

If you would like to donate to a charity in remembrance of Kay, please consider St Jude, the MSPCA, or any other charity that is meaningful to you.
