Robert W. Relyea
Hamilton-Robert W. Relyea, 52, passed away peacefully, early Sunday evening on February 13, 2022, with the love and support of his family at his side, at University Hospital, following many courageous medical battles.
Bob was born on October 9, 1969, in Oneida, the son of the late Bruce A. and Beverly Relyea, Sr., and received his education in local schools. Bob apprenticed under his father Bruce, as a carpenter. He was a self-employed contractor in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical. Bob had lived many years in Eaton, and had been a former member of the Eaton Fire Department. Bob loved the outdoors, especially hunting season. Bob also loved to take the kids fishing and enjoy the local streams and lakes. He could always be found in the early morning hours at the local convenience stores, enjoying his favorite beverage, coffee and visiting with all he came across. He was a dad and grandpa, he loved to talk about his family. Bob lived his life on his own terms, was always there to help others, and was a character that left a lasting impression on all that knew him.
Bob’s passing is mourned by many, his beloved eight children: Manual (Crystal) Relyea, Kristopher Relyea, Rosalyn Relyea, Carson Relyea, Sierra Relyea Staelens, Ricky Relyea, Robert Relyea, Ryan Relyea; two step-children, Matthew (Chey) Peckham and Dustin (Karissa) Peckham; five grandchildren: Logan Staelens, Walker Relyea, Zoey Stealens, Amelia Relyea, and Aleigha Staelens; three step-grandchildren: Payton Peckham, Preston Peckham, and Paisley Peckham; seven brothers: Bruce Jr. (Christine) Relyea, Jake (Kim) Relyea, Clay (Jessica) Relyea, Adam (Savannah) Relyea, Kevin Holmes, Skip Relyea and Willey Relyea; two sisters, Ruth (Chris) Dungey and Katherine Relyea; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bob is also survived by his other “family:” Kevin Peckham, Susan and Dutch Perry, and Kim Frost.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Bruce Sr., and Beverly, and his brother Jamie Relyea.
Funeral services will be held for Bob on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 1 PM, at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison, with Pastor Robert Taylor of the Pratts Hollow United Methodist Church, officiating. There will be a visitation from Noon until service time at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, there will be a celebration of Bob’s life to be held at the Munnsville American Legion Post # 54, 6311 East Hill Road, Munnsville, NY 13409.
