<p>Sammie Sue Sheffler, 78, of Sullivan, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born in Dugger, Indiana on September 30, 1943 to Phillip Raymond and Geneva L. (Neidigh) Christy. Sue married the love of her life, Charles Wayne &lsquo;Jake&rsquo; Sheffler on October 27, 1961.</p> <p>Sue was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah&rsquo;s Witnesses in Sullivan. She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sue liked working around the house, horses and gardening. Her children have many fond memories of her, especially watching her trim the grass around the house with a pair of scissors.</p> <p>Family left to cherish the memory of Sue include: sons, Kip (Andrea) Sheffler, Mark (Cierra Manuel) Sheffler, both of Dugger, and Chuck (Suzie) Sheffler of Nashville; daughter, Kimberly (Terry) Fogerty of Dugger; nine grandchildren, Sean (Randi) Fogerty, Terra (Brian) Layne, Kellie Burris, Christopher Sheffler, Mack Sheffler, Silas Sheffler, Amelia Beasley, Kassandra Sheffler and Tessie Sheffler; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Phil Christy and Jack Christy; two sisters, Phyllis Christy and Sarah Christy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.</p> <p>Sue was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Charles W. Sheffler; son, Tod W. Sheffler; grandson, Erik Alan Sheffler; great-grandson, Charles Layne; sister, Judith K. Sandford; brothers, Gary Christy and Niland Dean Raper.</p> <p>Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton. Sue will be laid to rest in Dugger Cemetery.</p> <p>Family and friends may call from 12:00 Noon until time of service at 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.</p> <p>The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Sullivan Kingdom Hall of Jehovah&rsquo;s Witnesses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.</p> <p>Arrangements and care have been entrusted to Meng Family Funeral Homes, Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton. Sammie Sue Sheffler, 78, of Sullivan, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born in Dugger, Indiana on September 30, 1943 to Phillip Raymond and Geneva L. (Neidigh) Christy. Sue married the love of her life, Charles Wayne ‘Jake’ Sheffler on October 27, 1961.

Sue was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sullivan. She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
