<p>Barbara Vaughan (nee McCoy) Nowlin, 79 years old died peacefully in her home in North Canton on Saturday, February 12, 2022.</p> <p>She was born February 18, 1942, to Wirth and Ruthann McCoy in Duluth, MN.</p> <p>Barbara attended The University of Washington, Gonzaga University and The Pennsylvania State University. She graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Music, the first to receive that degree from Penn State as a violinist. After graduation she pursued advanced violin studies in Philadelphia, PA.</p> <p>During graduate school she was a Lending Officer with a bank in Philadelphia. Afterward she worked with banks in Canton and North Canton as well as a Golf Pro Shop Assistant with country clubs in Pompano Beach, Florida, and The Edgewood Golf Club in North Canton.</p> <p>She met Jeffrey, her future husband, in Pompano Beach, Florida. They were married on December 20, 1969, and had three children, Michael, Kathleen, and David. Barbara&rsquo;s most important job was raising her children.</p> <p>She was an avid golfer, winning the ladies 9-hole championship at Edgewood and the ladies 18-hole handicap championship at Roswell Country Club in Roswell, Georgia. Beyond golf, she had many interests especially her family, traveling, reading, gardening, the arts and music. She was a member of the Canton McDowell Club string quartet and Canton Symphony League.</p> <p>Her many travels included vacations with Jeff on her beloved Oregon Coast as well extended visits to England, Scotland, Wales, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, and Morocco.</p> <p>Barbara is survived by Jeffrey, her husband of 52 years, their sons, Michael and his wife Denette of Cuyahoga Falls, David and his wife Maranda of North Canton, and daughter Kathleen Morrison and her husband Eric of Vermilion, OH. She has eight grandchildren Madeline, Alex, Jenna, Lindsey, Elaine Grace, Ava Grace, and newborn twins Everly and Harper.</p> <p>Barbara was preceded in death by her mother Ruthann McCoy and parents Wirth and Dorothy McCoy.</p> <p>There will be a Celebration of Barbara&rsquo;s Life in the Lobby adjacent to The Guild Hall of St. Paul&rsquo;s Episcopal Church 425 Cleveland Ave SW, Canton, OH on March 3, 2022, from 1-2 PM followed by a Funeral Mass and Inurnment Service officiated by Father Phillip Kunder at 2 PM. As it is the practice of St. Paul&rsquo;s normal Covid rules regarding the wearing of masks, contact tracing and social distancing will apply.</p> <p>Memorials or donations in Barbara&rsquo;s name may be made to St. Paul&rsquo;s Episcopal Church, PO Box 21333, Canton, Ohio 44701-1333</p>

Barbara Vaughan (nee McCoy) Nowlin, 79 years old died peacefully in her home in North Canton on Saturday, February 12, 2022.

She was born February 18, 1942, to Wirth and Ruthann McCoy in Duluth, MN.

Barbara attended The University of Washington, Gonzaga University and The Pennsylvania State University.
