Jacob Roland Longacre
<p>Jacob Roland Longacre, 60, passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2022. His humor, compassion, and creativity will be greatly missed.</p> <p> </p> <p>Jacob was born on Oct. 25, 1961, the 5th of 6 children, to the late Rev. Jacob A. Longacre and Marguerite (Leister) Longacre. He was a graduate of Liberty High School, Muhlenberg College (BS), University of Michigan (MS) and Cornell University (MBA). His met his wife Elizabeth in physics classes at Muhlenberg. After they married in July 1982, they spent two years in Ann Arbor, MI before settling in Griswold, CT in 1984. He was an active part of their church community, singing often with the church choir.</p> <p> </p> <p>Jacob was, at various points, a civilian engineer for the Navy, a professional toy airplane designer, and an electronics technology professor at Quinsigamond Community College – but always a reliable source of puns, surprising trivia, a ready ear, and a helping hand. He was a loving father and wonderful friend. He enjoyed reading, tinkering, flea marketing, experimenting with interesting drinks, and being surrounded by those he loved. We hope he is enjoying his new behind-the-scenes view of the workings of the universe.</p> <p> </p> <p>Jacob is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Elizabeth (Poggemeier) Longacre; their children, Alexandra, Jacquelyn, and Danielle, son-in-law Scott; his siblings Suzanne Perry Bachman, Greta (Bob) Larkin, Barbara (Jeff) Wiseman, Helene Longacre, and Mark (Carey) Longacre; a small horde of beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews; and countless friends.</p> <p> </p> <p>On February 19, 2022, there will be calling hours at Gagne-Piechowski funeral home from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow at 1 p.m. at First Congregational Church of Griswold, 878 Voluntown Rd, Griswold, CT 06351.<br /> <br /> <br /> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>Obituary
