Marlene G. Leach Obituary

Marlene Gayle Leach, 72, of Flemington, West Virginia passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Barbour County, West Virginia on December 25, 1949, a daughter of the late Adolphus T. Leach and the late Leona (Harper) Leach.

Marlene is survived by her sister, Luella (David) Burton; niece and nephews: Jennifer (Dan) Londeree of Huntington, West Virginia, Scott (Rebecca) Burton, of Headland, Alabama, Aaron Burton, LTJG USN, DDG107 of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mark (Megan) Fragale and David (Karla) Fragale, from Ohio; Grand nieces and nephews: Emma and Claire Londeree, Elias, Eden, Eziekel, and Ezra Burton, Alex and Isabella Kate Fragale, and one grand nephew making his appearance in March.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Clarenda Kate (Leach) Fragale, and her brother in law, Anthony Fragale.

Marlene attended and completed her elementary education through the sixth grade at Simpson Elementary School. She graduated from Flemington High School in 1967. She completed a secretarial business course at Fairmont Business College. She was employed at Fairmont Credit Union and City National Bank. Her last employment was working for James Watkins, Attorney at Law in Fairmont, West Virginia, before retiring and moving back home to Simpson, West Virginia.

She loved her niece and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She would do anything for them. In other words, spoiled them. The clothes she bought them for Christmas were always too big. She told them they would be able to wear them longer. Most of what she bought them, they could still wear after graduating from high school. She frequently asked if they wanted a snack but would offer peaches. They sure didn’t want peaches for a snack.

She loved being outside doing yard work. She would ride the mower down the side of the road. If she saw a neighbor, socializing took precedent over any yard work. After her mowing was done, she enjoyed sitting on the porch and talking to those neighbors who frequently walked on Post Hill Road.

Family and friends will be received at the Union Baptist Church in Simpson, WV, on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 10am until the funeral hour at 12Noon. Interment will follow in the Simpson Cemetery. When attending viewing or funeral, please wear your mask to protect yourself and your loved ones and friends. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Simpson Cemetery, Inc. All checks should be made out to the Simpson Cemetery and mailed to Simpson Cemetery % David Leach, PO Box 235, Simpson, West Virginia 26435.
