Daniel Lane "Danny" Self Obituary

Daniel Lane “Danny” Self passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the age of 62. A Middle Georgia resident most of his life, Danny was passionate about bringing people to the Lord. He wanted to see those around him trust in Jesus and live a life of worship. He was a longtime active and faithful member of Byron Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and trained leaders in the church as well as at the Southern Baptist Convention. Danny was an accountant for many years after earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Accounting. In his spare time, Danny loved to watch racing and ride his motorcycle. He was a talented drummer and BBQer. He coached his daughters’ softball teams and loved to be at every event in which his grandchildren participated. He encouraged everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Self, Sr. and Betty Watson Self, along with his brother, Dennis Self. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Karen Louise Jenkins Self; daughters, Kimberly Lovell (Colby) and Katherine Self; grandchildren, Cole and Kailyn Lovell and Bailey Lane Inez Hutson; siblings, Betty Jean Clark (Kenneth) and Charles Self, Jr.; father- and mother-in-law, Edward and Becky Jenkins; brother-in-law, Heath (Sherri) Jenkins; and nieces and nephews, Shannon Self, Brian Self, Mickey Self, Michael Clark, Ashley Tamulonis, Ben Self, Jordan Palmer, and Noelle Cox. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Byron Baptist Church. Danny’s service will be held immediately following visitation at 3:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest privately.
