Elmer Lee "Fudge" Ison

<p>Elmer Lee &ldquo;Fudge&rdquo; Ison, 72, of Waynesburg, KY passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 at home. He was born Saturday, May 28, 1949 in Letcher County, KY to the late Aaron and Vivian Fields Ison. At age 15, Elmer started working at the feed store and continued working as a farmer and various other jobs throughout his life earning him the title of &ldquo;jack of all trades.&rdquo; He loved camping, riding his golf cart, and taking naps outside. Elmer enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family. He loved people and made it an annual tradition to dress up and play Santa Claus. Elmer was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.</p> <p>Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Ann Shelton Ison of Waynesburg, KY; one son, Steven Lee Ison (Stephanie) of Pigeon Forge, TN; a daughter, Melissa Richey (Chris) of Stanford, KY; two sisters, Geraldine Belcher of Eubank, KY and Ina Mae Newby of Somerset, KY; seven grandchildren, Taylor BreAnn Richey, Jacob Davin Ison, Toriana Paige Richey, Isaiah Lucas Ison, Isaac Andrew-Lee Ison, Maliyah Michelle Ison, and Saydee Faith; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by one brother, Harvey Ison; and two sisters, Wilma Jean Fields and Evedine Ison.</p> <p>A one day service has been scheduled for Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 11am-2pm with funeral service beginning at 2pm. The service will be livestreamed on Barnett, Demrow, &amp; FRIEND Funeral Home Facebook page. Bro. Kerry Jones will officiate the service and burial will follow at Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg, KY. Active pallbearers will be Don &ldquo;Hulie&rdquo; Leach, Joe Leach, Richard Shelton, Tommy Shelton, Chris Shelton, Michael Shelton, Glenn Adington, and David Shelton. Honorary pallbearers are Steven Ison, Chris Richey, Elmer&rsquo;s grandchildren, Jacob Adington, Brian Shelton, Debbie Leach Baughman, and Robert Lee Belcher.</p> <p>A memory box will be set up at the church and the family requests memories of Elmer to be written and placed in the box with name, date, etc. Memories also can be left on the online</p> <p>Barnett, Demrow, &amp; FRIEND Funeral Home is entrusted with Elmer&rsquo;s arrangements.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
