Ellen Tiss Obituary

The Family writes --

Ellen Tiss (70), known for her kind heart and youthful spirit, passed away late in the evening on Sunday, February 6, 2022.

Raised in Springfield, New Jersey, Ellen was the beloved daughter of Betty and Sol (d) Waltman, and sister of the late Bruce Waltman.

Ellen studied undergrad at William Paterson University and went on to receive her Master’s in Education at Marygrove College. Ellen’s love for teaching was obvious throughout her career as an elementary school teacher, though it's undeniable that family was her true passion.

Ellen was a loving wife to her husband Howard Tiss and a doting mother to her daughter Rachel Perlman (Josh) and her son Michael Tiss (Alicia). She relished in the role of adoring, fun-loving "GiGi” to her two grandsons, Jake and Max Perlman.

She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

The family will be sitting shiva at the home of Rachel and Josh Perlman, 520 Clifton Street, Westfield, New Jersey on Wednesday directly following the service until 4 PM; and then 6-8 PM. And on the following day, Thursday, February 10th from 2-4 PM; and then 6-8 PM.

Graveside services will be held at King Solomon Memorial Park., 550 Dwasline Road, Clifton, New Jersey on Wednesday, February 9th at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
