Kenneth George Tappendorf passed away on January 24, 2022, at the age of 92, in the town of Eureka, Montana. Kenneth was a born worker and enjoyed staying busy. In his early years, he worked in a grocery store and a leather factory. He later went on to manage an apartment building while also supervising 30 workers at the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District (MMSD) where he remained for 35 years until he retired.  

Kenneth met the love of his life, Margaret, in 1978 while she was waitressing at a barbecue restaurant in Milwaukee.  He said that was the day his life truly began; fast forward to 1985 when they were married and built their forever home in Eureka, Montana. Although he was retired from the MMSD, to stay busy, Kenneth moved irrigation pipes and worked as a volunteer dispatcher for the Eureka Police Department. He taught a 55 Alive Course—a senior discount driver improvement class—in his spare time.    

But it wasn’t all work—his true passion was the great outdoors.  From racing speed boats—or taking leisurely pontoon rides with Margaret across lake Koocanusa—to chopping firewood, camping and fishing with his boys, building a sauna, enjoying his hot tub, riding his horses, and hunting…his love for nature stayed with him till the very end. His cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his son Jeffrey and daughter Elizabeth.

He is survived by his beautiful wife, Margaret Tappendorf, his sons: Michael and Jimmy (and their respective partners Donna and Kim), and grandchildren: Mathias, Rachel, Joshua, Kayla, and Gary.

Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m., on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Eureka.  Mass of the Resurrection will be on February 15 at 10:00 am at the church followed by interment at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery.
