MARY FRANCIS PEACOCK LAY

 

            Mary Francis Lay, age 60 of Cottontown, Tennessee, passed away on February 2, 2022, in Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN.    Mary was born May 1, 1961 in Adrian, Michigan, the seventh of eight children born to Thomas and Lois (Giles) Peacock.  Mary graduated Salutatorian of the Hudson Area High School Class of 1979.   She attended Eastern Michigan University and earned a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology.  Mary worked as a Speech Therapist in the state of Tennessee her entire career, and up until her recent illness was employed at Sumner Station in Gallatin, Tennessee.

            Mary is survived by her daughter Audrey (Tanner) Hooper, and their children Layla Jane and Jude Michael.  They are currently living in Germany while Tanner is serving in the Army.    She is also survived by her son, Wesley, who lives in Gallatin, TN, and her former husband and best friend, Jerry Lay of Cottontown, TN.  She is survived by her mother, Lois Peacock of Clayton, MI and her siblings:  Patricia & Troy DeLong of Adrian, MI; Gary of Hudson, MI; Pamela & Robert Kramer of Hudson, MI; Melissa McDermid of Fenton, MI; and John & Tina Peacock of Adrian, MI; and several nieces and nephews.   Mary was preceded in death by her father Thomas Peacock, her sister Marsha Peacock Driskill Townsend, and her brother Larry Peacock. 

            A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12th from 1:00-3:00 with funeral immediately following at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in White House, TN.  She will be cremated and laid to rest at Dover Center Cemetery in Clayton, MI at a later date.
