Robert "Bob" Hubers Uxbridge, Ontario Obituary

Robert "Bob" Hubers

Passed away tragically and suddenly on February 2, 2022 at the age of 58. Loving and devoted husband to his highschool sweetheart Susan. Proud and loving dad to Kathleen (Matt) and Brian (Emily). Beloved Opa to Winston, August, and his first granddaughter due in May.The fourth of five children, Bob was adored by his family—his parents, siblings, nephews, and nieces: Peter (deceased) & Lisa Hubers, Bill & Lee Hubers (Andrew, Shannon, Bradley), Rick & Angela Hubers (Adam, Nicole), Gerry Hubers (Ben, Paul) and Deb & Don Gordon (Holly, Scott, Sam). He was a dear son-in-law to Dale & Ruth Godfrey, and brother-in-law to Karen & Chris Vestergaard (Rebecca-Jo, Kel, Kyra), John (Chris, Kyle), and Corrie & Bob Noble (Joshua, Jessica).

Bob was born on August 19, 1963 in Ajax, ON. However, it was in the small town of Sunderland, ON where his roots ran deep. An ever-constant friend, many of his closest friendships began in those formative years attending school and playing sports in Brock Township. He could often be found at a local rink or rugby pitch, which continued long after his own playing days. Always an avid supporter, he coached local hockey and ringette, mentored young adults at church, and was a consistent presence in the stands, not only cheering on his own children, but his friends’ children and his children’s friends. It didn’t matter if you were his long-time friend or his randomly-paired partner on the golf course, Bob always made you feel welcome and at ease.

Bob’s presence and distinct laugh brought joy to everyone who met him. He always gave attention and time to every conversation, whether a catch-up with an old friend or a sales call for IBM, or ‘Big Blue’ as Bob liked to say. He worked diligently at IBM for 36 years and had been enjoying his retirement for the past 5 months. Bob loved to travel with Sue and with their friends. He had seen a lot of the world already, and had numerous trips planned in retirement.

Bob’s faith was strong and steadfast. He loved Jesus and loved people. He was a consistent presence in the community of St. Paul’s Leaskdale Church, serving coffee, helping set up men’s breakfast events, and giving his time wherever needed. One of the highlights of his week was Wednesday morning small group Bible study. Time was the currency of Bob’s life - he always used it fully and gave it generously. He adored spending his time with his children and grandchildren. Always lending a helping hand, he was handy and always had a solution. His caring heart was evident to all.

Bob is the man we all love and will cherish forever.

His family will honour him with a celebration of life. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the funeral will be a private celebration. A live-stream will be available via St. Paul’s Leaskdale’s website

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 8 from 7-9pm and Wednesday, February 9 from 1-3pm and 7-9pm, at St. Paul’s Leaskdale Church, 12251 Regional Road #1, Leaskdale, ON L0C 1C0. Please visit the St. Paul's Leaskdale's website to pre-register your attendance at the church for the visiting - www.saintpauls.ca.

In remembrance of Bob, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to St. Paul’s Leaskdale and Loaves and Fishes Foodbank Uxbridge.
