Paula M. Tuttle Sheldon, Iowa Services for Paula M. Tuttle, age 90, of Sioux Center formerly of Sheldon who passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Royale Meadows Nursing Home in Sioux Center. A private family graveside will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon with Pastor Kim Wermersen ~ officiating. There will be no formal service or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be used at their discretion. Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon. IN LOVING MEMORY OF PAULA M. Paula Margret Tuttle, 90, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Royale Meadows Nursing Home in Sioux Center, Iowa. Paula was born on April 26, 1931, in Manilla, Iowa, the daughter of Gilbert J. and Helen A. (Sievers) Disburg. Paula attended Manilla Public Schools graduating in 1949. She played on the girls’ basketball team, the Manilla Hawkettes. Upon graduating from high school, she attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, Iowa receiving an Associate Arts Degree, and later graduating from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Paula started her teaching career in Avoca, Iowa teaching 2nd grade and chaperoned the girls’ basketball team. Her elementary teaching career included Avoca, Ida Grove, Mt. Vernon, and 28 years in Sheldon, Iowa. After ending her teaching career, she became the Culligan Lady in Sheldon, working in the downtown office for several years and then worked as a dispatcher for the Sheldon Police Department. She was active with the Sheldon Civic Music Associating, serving as board secretary for 15+ years. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Sheldon Methodist Church and was part of various church ladies’ circles of the church. Paula married Harold Eugene (Hal) Tuttle on June 5, 1955, in the Presbyterian Church in Manilla, Iowa. Paula met Hal at a football game when she came home for a weekend. Hal was a teacher and was assigned to take tickets and work at the concession stand along with Paula’s mother, Helen. Paula and Hal were blessed with one child, a daughter, Lanette. Paula enjoyed spending summers with Hal at their cottage at South Templar Park, Spirit Lake, Iowa. Entertaining friends and family at the “Wee Pack’Em Inn”. She and Hal were season ticket holders at the Okoboji Summer Theater. She also enjoyed taking part in local Sheldon Summer Theater musicals. Paula and Hal were avid square dancers and enjoyed dancing and playing cards with lifelong friends. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and husband, Lanette Rae and Rodney Korver of Sheldon. Two grandsons, Aaron and his wife Danielle Korver and their sons, Tristan and Isaac Korver of Hastings, Minnesota and Marc Korver of Washington, Iowa. One sister, Mary Ellen and her husband, Norman Wilcox of Grayson, Georgia, and a sister-in-law, Mary Disburg of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Paula was preceded in death by her husband of more than 65 years, Harold, her parents, Gilbert and Helen Disburg, and a brother, Alan Disburg.
