David was born on May 18, 1939, to Catherine (nee Heyob) and Joseph Brickner. He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic grade school, graduated from William Henry Harrison High School and then attended Xavier University and graduated college in 1961.  He married Rita Brickner on June 29, 1963, and they were blessed with three children: Greg, Cindy and Missy.  David went to work in the food industry getting his first job at Pillsbury. His career in the food industry took him all over the country.  David was a mentor and the people he worked with became close friends and extended family. He retired from Ruiz Foods in 2008, however he still consulted to companies all over the country still impacting many in the industry and received the 2014 Hall of Fame award from the Tortilla Association.  No matter where he and Rita lived, they always had a big garden.  They grew fresh fruits and vegetables and gave much of it away to co-workers, friends, and neighbors.

David’s memory will live on with his loving wife of 58 years: Rita Brickner; beloved children: Greg (Vicki) Brickner, Cindy (Kelly) Zink, and Missy (Dave) Tada; cherished grandchildren: Maggie Brickner, Emma Brickner, Eion Zink, Michael Zink, Alex Tada, & Nathan Tada; Brother: Steve (Donna) Brickner; Sister: Sylvia (Bob) Weitzel; and many nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10010 Carolina Trace Road, Harrison, OH 45030 on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 10:30 am until the time of Mass at 12:00 pm.  Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery with Fr. Jeffrey Kemper officiating.

The family asks that instead of flowers memorials be made to one of the following charities:  Tunnel 2 Towers (which is a charity that helps families of 911 and veteran families), St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Xavier University All for One.  A funeral home representative will be available during the visitation and service to accept donations.  If you are unable to attend you are able to mail your donation, made payable to one of the above charities, to Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030.  They will notify the family of your donation and mail donations to charity.
