Rodney Berends, a resident of Gate Oklahoma,  passed away on January 31, 2022 at the age of 67 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Rodney was born on February 21, 1954 on the Stinson family farm to Elmer and Leatha (Stinson) Berends. Rodney attended Gate school until 1971, Graduated in 1972 at Laverne Ok. He attended a trade school in Liberal, Ks.  He married Joy Kraus on June 9, 1984, to this marriage one son was blessed,  Dustin Berends. 

Rodney was a man of many talents,   worked in the oilfield, drove trucks, farmed, ranched, avid collector, always saw the diamond in the rough.  Later in his  life he always enjoyed spending time with his grandkids,  “collecting” ,  caring for his cows and tinkering around the house.  

Rodney is preceded in death by his father Elmer Berends, a brother Todd Berends, and grandparents. 

Rodney is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joy of the home. Son, Dustin and his wife Kaneishia, grandchildren Nevaeh and Roper, his mother Leatha , brother Verlyn, sister Evelyn and husband Bill Shephard  all of Buffalo, Oklahoma,  a brother Marty and wife Nancy Berends of Chelsea, Oklahoma and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
