<p><em><span style="font-size:22px;"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms,arial;">Darrell Baker, age 72, of&nbsp; Carrollton, Ohio, died Tuesday afternoon, February 1, 2022 in the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center following a brief illness.</span></span></em></p> <p><em><span style="font-size:22px;"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms,arial;">He was born March 10, 1949 in Arjay, Kentucky and was the son of the late Joe L. and Louise (Sanders) Baker.&nbsp; In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Larry&nbsp; Baker and Donald &quot;Duke&quot; Baker.</span></span></em></p> <p><em><span style="font-size:22px;"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms,arial;">Darrell retired as a railroad worker for Norfolk and Western Railway out of the Bellevue Yard after 23 years of service, and was also retired from Advanced Auto Parts where he was employed for 13 years working the counter and parts delivery.&nbsp; He was a 1967 graduate of Conotton Valley High School, and was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in Germany during the Viet Nam Era. Darrell&#39;s tastes were simple.&nbsp; He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, working on vehicles, but mostly looked forward to spending time with his family and many friends.&nbsp; He was a caring husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by his family.&nbsp;</span></span></em></p> <p><em><span style="font-size:22px;"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms,arial;">He is survived by his wife Suzanne&nbsp;Baker, whom he married August 18, 1990 in Leesville, Ohio, his three children and their spouses&nbsp; Ramona and Randy Fluharty of Scio, OH, Travis and Lacey Baker of Sherrodsville, OH, and Darrell and Erin Baker of New Richmond, OH, five grandchildren Dakota Robin, Brandon&nbsp; Robin, Logan Baker, Lillian Baker, and Evelyn Baker and four siblings Mrs. Diane (Charles) Smith of Hamilton, OH,&nbsp; Ron (Tina) Baker of Carrollton, Bobby Joe (Beverly) Baker of Marco Island, Florida, and Mrs. Linda (Joe) Arnold&nbsp;of Newport, OH, and a sister-in-law Debbie Baker of Carrollton.</span></span></em></p> <p><em><span style="font-size:22px;"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms,arial;">A Memorial Visitation will be observed Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville, Ohio.&nbsp; No formal funeral services are scheduled. Darrell Baker, age 72, of  Carrollton, Ohio, died Tuesday afternoon, February 1, 2022 in the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born March 10, 1949 in Arjay, Kentucky and was the son of the late Joe L. and Louise (Sanders) Baker.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Larry  Baker and Donald "Duke" Baker.

Darrell retired as a railroad worker for Norfolk and Western Railway out of the Bellevue Yard after 23 years of service, and was also retired from Advanced Auto Parts where he was employed for 13 years working the counter and parts delivery.  He was a 1967 graduate of Conotton Valley High School, and was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in Germany during the Viet Nam Era.
