Jerry R. Mitchell Obituary

Jerry “Randy” Mitchell, age 60, of Escanaba, passed away Tuesday morning, February 1, 2022 at his home. He was born on October 4, 1961 in West Virginia, to parents Jerry D. Mitchell and Judith Gillespie. Randy was raised in West Virginia and later relocated to Woodhaven, MI where he resided for a few years. In 2004, he moved to Escanaba and met his fiancé, Cathy Anderson. Randy greatly enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing with friends and family at Camp Paradise in Cement, MI, and sitting by a campfire roasting a marshmallow. He loved life, making people happy, putting a smile on other’s faces, and always had a hug for everyone. Randy was a humble and cheerful soul who never felt sorry for himself and was never more than a minute away from a good belly laugh. Randy loved his family more than anything and enjoyed having them around, especially his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He had a very special bond with his mother who he talked to every day. They enjoyed watching the Price is Right and always called to say “Goodnight” and “I Love You.” His children, Meryssa and Jackie, were his pride and joy. He looked forward to talking with them and was always beaming with radiating energy. Randy also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dogs, Boo and Max.

Randy Mitchell is survived by the love of his life, Catherine Anderson of Escanaba; mother, Judith Mays of Huntington, WV; daughters, Jackie Mitchell of Fayette, MO, and Meryssa Mitchell of Glennie, MI; sister, Teresa Goodwin of Huntington, WV; many grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step-children, Jamie Mason of Escanaba, Joseph Anderson of Gladstone, Katie Maier of Escanaba, and Kelly LaFave of Escanaba; and numerous nieces and nephews including Kimberly, Heather, and Brian Goodwin.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Dale Mitchell.
