Ronald “Ron” Pollock, age 90, of Redfield, SD, passed away on February 1, 2022, in Sioux Falls.  His services will be held on Saturday, February 5, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield.  Visitation, with family present, will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. with his funeral service at 11:00 a.m.  Reverend John Short will officiate.  Following the funeral, his interment, with military honors, will take place at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Redfield.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home. Ron is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Mary (Reyleck) Pollock, his wife Arlene (Patterson), brother James, sisters Marlene and Dorothy. Survived by his children Bill Pollock and Diane Bushong, grandchildren Brad, Lauren, and Megan, and four great-grandchildren.

Ron was born on May 27, 1931, in Huron, SD where he was raised. He graduated from Huron High School, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he spent most of his service time in Georgia. Ron married Arlene Patterson on June 9, 1956. After living in Huron early in their marriage, they moved to Redfield to raise their family.

Skilled in woodworking, Ron created works of art that family and friends still treasure today. He built himself a workshop which housed numerous tools to support his many projects. Ron also liked to maintain and restore cars. His hands were never idle.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend. Ron took great care in teaching the joy found in everyday life and instilled that value into his children and everyone around him.

Ron touched many people in his time and will be missed as a father, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend, volunteer, and as a great role model. Please take your time to mourn his passing, but more importantly, incorporate the passion with which he lived his life into yours.
