<p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><span style="font-size:16px;">Jack Calloway Clapp, age 85 of Strawberry Plains, TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center with his daughter by his side. &nbsp;He was born on July 5, 1936 in Knoxville, TN.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><span style="font-size:16px;">Jack served in the United States Air Force for 26 years. &nbsp;Stationed at a wide variety of locations across the globe. &nbsp;He served as a Shop Chief over seas and worked on the Minute Man Missiles in the states. &nbsp;While in the Air Force, he and his first wife adopted two boys. &nbsp;Near the end of his tour he met his second wife, Lissea. &nbsp;He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant and moved to Montpelier, Idaho with Lissea to raise a family. &nbsp;He took a job at FMC Skull Point Mine driving off road dump trucks in an open pit coal mine for 15 years until his retirement. &nbsp;In 1995, he and the family moved to his home in Strawberry Plains, TN. &nbsp;For the next 23 years Jack worked for his nephew, Larry Baldwin at Baldwin Cremation &amp; Mortuary Service in Knoxville, TN. &nbsp;Jack became well known in the industry transporting deceased loved ones to funeral homes all over the country until his 3rd and final retirement in 2018.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><span style="font-size:16px;">Jack is&nbsp;</span></span><font face="georgia, serif" size="3">preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Lucille Clapp; brothers, Melvyn and Tom Clapp; daughter-in-law, Jackie Clapp.</font></p> <p><font face="georgia, serif" size="3">He is survived by his wife, Lissea Clapp; daughter, Jackie C. Clapp; sons, Tim and Gary Clapp;&nbsp;sister, Edwina Clapp Baldwin; grandchildren and an army of nieces and nephews.</font></p> <p><font face="georgia, serif" size="3">Gathering of of family and friends will be Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 11:30am - 12:30pm at Mynatt Funeral Home in Fountain City 2829 Rennoc Road, Knoxville, TN &nbsp;37918. <a href="tel:(865) 347-3967">(865) 347-3967</a>. &nbsp;There will be NO&nbsp;formal procession to the cemetery. &nbsp;Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee Veteran&#39;s Cemetery 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN &nbsp;37920, Tuesday, February 8, 2022 for a 2:00pm Graveside and military service. &nbsp;Larry Baldwin and Jim Sweet will officiate the service.&nbsp;</font></p> <p><font face="georgia, serif" size="3">A special thank you to the Fort Sanders MedSurg ICU staff that cared for Jack in his final days.</font></p> <p><font face="georgia, serif" size="3">In lieu of flowers, Jack and the family would be honored if a donation was sent to the Gary Sinise Foundation at www.garysinisefoundation.org.&nbsp;</font></p>

Jack Calloway Clapp, age 85 of Strawberry Plains, TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center with his daughter by his side.  He was born on July 5, 1936 in Knoxville, TN.

Jack served in the United States Air Force for 26 years.  Stationed at a wide variety of locations across the globe.  He served as a Shop Chief over seas and worked on the Minute Man Missiles in the states.  While in the Air Force, he and his first wife adopted two boys.  Near the end of his tour he met his second wife, Lissea.  He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant and moved to Montpelier, Idaho with Lissea to raise a family.  He took a job at FMC Skull Point Mine driving off road dump trucks in an open pit coal mine for 15 years until his retirement.  In 1995, he and the family moved to his home in Strawberry Plains, TN.  For the next 23 years Jack worked for his nephew, Larry Baldwin at Baldwin Cremation & Mortuary Service in Knoxville, TN.  Jack became well known in the industry transporting deceased loved ones to funeral homes all over the country until his 3rd and final retirement in 2018.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Lucille Clapp; brothers, Melvyn and Tom Clapp; daughter-in-law, Jackie Clapp.

He is survived by his wife, Lissea Clapp; daughter, Jackie C. Clapp; sons, Tim and Gary Clapp; sister, Edwina Clapp Baldwin; grandchildren and an army of nieces and nephews.

Gathering of of family and friends will be Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 11:30am - 12:30pm at Mynatt Funeral Home in Fountain City 2829 Rennoc Road, Knoxville, TN  37918. (865) 347-3967.  There will be NO formal procession to the cemetery.  Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN  37920, Tuesday, February 8, 2022 for a 2:00pm Graveside and military service.  Larry Baldwin and Jim Sweet will officiate the service.
