Lester Woodrow Wright Obituary

Lester W. Wright of Rochester Hills passed away January 30, 2022. He was 96 2/3 years old, born May 23, 1925, in Sullivan, Indiana, to Elizabeth (Bennett) and William Lex Wright. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Wright put his family above all else. As a young man, he led the Sullivan High School marching band, played trombone, and was senior class president. He served honorably in WWII in the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division (paratroops) in the Battle of the Bulge and all the way to Berlin. Professionally, he worked for General Motors for 33 years. He was Director of Quality & Reliability for Buick in Flint, MI, and Vauxhall & GM Overseas while in Luton, England. In his spare time, he enjoyed euchre, tennis, bowling, skiing, golf, and retirement/ family gatherings. He was an active member of Grand Blanc Methodist church (60’s), and then the Kirk-In-The-Hills church in Bloomfield Hills. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his beloved 2nd wife, Mary Ellen Scheppach, his 2 sons, Steven (Laura) Wright, Jeffrey (Gretchen) Wright, and his 5 grandchildren, Daniel, Alex, Christine, Tyler, and Nicholes. He is preceded in death by 1st wife Cleo E. (Raley) Wright, his parents William Lex Wright and Elizabeth (Bennett) Wright, and 6 siblings: Lela Mendenhall, Harold Wright, Dorles Cudsworth, Helen Stantz, Cecil Wright, Loretta Shake, all Sullivan Hoosiers. A celebration of Les’s life is planned for 5/21/22 11am at the Kirk-In-The-Hills church, 1340 West Long Lake Rd, Bloomfield Hills with internment in their Columbarium, and ‘a tea’ in the Fireside Room.
