William H. Hertzog Obituary

On January 28th, 2022, William H. Hertzog 59, went crashing through the gates of heaven on his motorcycle. He passed away with loved ones by his side at Heritage Valley Beaver.

He was reunited with his father William O. Hertzog, His mother Myrtle "Jeanie" Hertzog (Wilhelm) his dog Spike and various other loved ones. Born on June 29, 1962, He was often known in life as a practical joker taking pride in his ability to make people laugh. Billy was a deeply caring person and took pride in being a Volunteer Fireman for the Rochester VFW South Side, Noss Plan from his teen years and into his adulthood. He always had his scanner by his side and ready to assist.  He worked as a laborer for Alcoa, Leetsdale, Pa, for almost two decades where he made lifelong friends. Billy also known as "Wild Bill" was an avid lifelong drummer.  He sat in for many local bands throughout the years, playing the drums was a true passion of his. In addition, he loved nothing better than being able to ride with motorcycle clubs, raising charity benefits for local residents and foundations.  Billy was also an avid hunter for years, enjoying trips to camp, deer spotting and time in the woods.

He is survived by his beloved daughters, Jade Hertzog and her Fiancé Charlie Rogers, Beaver Falls; Lydia (Hertzog) Zagorski and her husband Mike, Beaver; and stepdaughter Caitlin Caratelli and her son, his little buddy, Leo Caratelli (Neshannock Twp.)  Billy is also survived by the love of his life Beth Edgell, Beaver, whom he shared many loving memories with over the last 21 years. In addition, he is survived by 4 sisters and their families.

Melinda Bayorek, South Beaver Twp.; Charlene (David) Slavik, New Brighton; Crystal Hertzog, Rochester; and Sondra (Hertzog) Kosanovich, Freedom; and many beloved nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind many beloved friends. He touched so many lives and our hearts are so much bigger because he was in ours.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday, February 4, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. in J & J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton.
