Rodney Lelan Andersen

I loved growing up in Teton Idaho on a spud farm. Up early, wrangling the horses to get them ready for a day’s work. Feed, harness and hitching them to the equipment of the day. We used them for about a year then dad was able to buy a tractor. John Deere of course.

Graduated from Sugar-Salem High school in 1952. One year at Ricks College and then called on a mission to Brazil speaking Portuguese.

I loved my farm raising and my nearly three-year mission. Then I was called to the military and chose to enlist in the Air Force. Basic in San Antonio Texas, language school at Presidio California. After, I was assigned to the Security Service and sent to Japan! We flew missions along the Russian coast to listen to their radio chatter all day long. Military stuff!

While in Japan, I learned to fly 8 different planes.

I loved the AF for all the very special experiences and fun, yet alone the education.

In my early 30s I met a woman from my area in Idaho. She came with 5 girls! I was their dad but not their father. They were beautiful and special women who grew to have great families of their own. I love my family of nearly 50 years.

We had our son, (The apple of my eye).

I lost my wife and I was alone for some time. Then I met a beautiful lady from Delta UT. She without a doubt saved my life. She allowed me to live a much fuller life and be much happier in my later life. What are the odds? Beautiful LDS lady with the same political outlook!

Preceded In death by his wife Gae Nell and daughters Christine and Lynette and Grandson-in-law Ryan Hill. Survived by his wife Nan, Thomas(Christine, deceased) Erickson of St. Anthony, Idaho, Linda (Evan) Tibbitts of St. Anthony, Idaho; Sheila (Von) Kunz, of Blackfoot, Idaho; Jerryne (Curtis)Turnbull of Orem, Utah, Rodney (Elisa) of Lehi, Utah; 20 Grandchildren, 37 Great-grandchildren, and 3 Great-great-grandchildren

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 12:30-1:30 pm prior to the services at the mortuary. Burial will be held Saturday, February 5 at the Teton Newdale Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family on this page.
