Mary "Edith" Chant Obituary

Edith was born to Harry and Myrtle Rudd on March 16, 1933 in Dauphin Hospital.  She lived on a farm near Makinak, MB. and attended school in Makinak to grade eleven.  She then had to go to Dauphin for grade twelve.  She then permit taught till attending Normal School in the early 1950's.  She then taught at Southend till she married Orvil Chant and had 3 daughters.    Edith and Orvil farmed in the Southend District till the mid 1960's.  They then moved to MacGregor where Dad worked for the local hardware, then as a driver for Gladstone Creamery, then Burch Seeds and finally for the town of MacGregor as a maintenance man.  Mom stopped teaching to raise her girls then took a job at Sprucedale for a few years, then ran the Nursery School for a few more.  After that she was hired to teach life skills in the high school and finally worked as a substitute teacher in both elementary and high school.   She finally stopped at the age of 80 years.  She then made her hobbies and outings her focus in life until recently.  She had some health issues later in life and passed peacefully at the MacGregor Health Centre.  she will be missed by her family and friends.

She is predeceased by her daughter Wendy Anne Chant and her husband Orvil Chant.  

She is survived by her two other daughters, Elizabeth Chant and Nora Chant and her partner Christopher Wollowchuk.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews on both sides as well as cousins.  

Cremation has taken place, and a gathering will be held at a later date.
