Robert Lazarchick

Robert Lazarchick, 85, passed away on January 25, 2022, at Reading Hospital. He was born October 18, 1936 in his grandparents’ home in Mar Lin, Pa., the son of the late John and Anna (Pisiak) Lazarchick. <br><br>Robert was an exceptional student and athlete. He graduated from Pottsville Area High School, Class of 1954, where he met a group of lifelong friends. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy before graduating from Lehigh University with a B.S. in Engineering. His professional career evolved over a span of 50 years, working in engineering, sales, and management. He retired from Terre Hill Concrete as President and CEO, after many fruitful years of working closely with the E. G. Smith family, who were not only his employers, but respected friends. <br><br>His retirement years were also productive. Bob had a penchant for life and enjoyed traveling, golfing with his buddies, and being active. He volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels, and was a Watch Dog at his grandchildren’s elementary school. He became a mentor for his grandchildren as they grew and he enjoyed nothing more than supporting them in their sporting events and scholastic achievements. ‘Papa’ could always be found in the stands cheering on his grandkids. He was an avid Phillies fan, and enjoyed rooting for them while watching the game with his grandsons. <br><br>He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy J. (Whitaker) in 2010, and a daughter, Jane Grace, in 1974. He met Nancy at a roller rink after spotting her fall, showed off his skating skills while passing by, but chivalrously assisted her to her feet on the next round. They married on June 29, 1957.<br><br>He is survived by his children: Lynn (Vince) Wychunas, Pottsville, Pa; Susan Lazarchick, Wyomissing, Pa; and Mike Lazarchick (Danelle), Wyomissing, Pa; former son-in-law, Bill Oberti, Wyomissing, Pa; his siblings, John Lazarchick (Lynda), Mount Pleasant, SC. and Mike Lazarchick (companion, Lorraine Enders), Minersville, Pa; and his current life partner, Cyndi Smith Kern, Mohnton, Pa with whom he enjoyed traveling and spending time at the beach. He had a truly special place in his heart for all his grandkids of whom he was so proud: Lauryn Wychunas; Olivia Lazarchick; Rocky Oberti; Charlotte Lazarchick-Oberti; Jonathan Lazarchick; and Ian Lazarchick, as well as many nieces and nephews.<br><br>Bob had a zest for living, was an excellent communicator, mentor, life coach, and overall great man to know.
