<p>CHERKEWICH - Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Verna Cherkewich, passed away peacefully January 26, 2022 at the William Booth Special Care Home where she resided.&nbsp; She was predeceased by her loving husband Mike (1988), brother Eugene Mudry, sister Stella Semeniuk, brothers in law John Stepa and Nick Semeniuk.&nbsp; She leaves behind three sons: Steve (Rita) grandchildren, Rodney (Debbie) Hobbs, Ryan, and Daniel.&nbsp; Tammy (Rod) Drake, Cassandra.&nbsp; Karen (Dustin) Hoffman, Alexandra, and Ethan.&nbsp; Ray (Marion) grandchildren, Cari (Martin) Lemieux, Kendra, and Steven.&nbsp; Shawn Cherkewich (Johannah Foster) Daniella, and Lexi.&nbsp; Michael (Trista) Cherkewich, Hailey, Brooke, and Tori.&nbsp; Erin (Trevor) Folgering, Kai, and Owen.&nbsp; Dave, grandchildren, Dawn Cherkewich (Brad), Dalton.&nbsp; Krista Cherkewich, Colten.&nbsp; Jodi (Greg) Cherkewich-Parks, Riley, and Peyton.&nbsp; A sister Olga Stepa, Brandon MB, and a sister-in-law Kay Moleski, Regina and numerous nieces and nephews.<br />Verna was born April 18, 1930 in Watrous SK.&nbsp; After her education in Watrous and Saskatoon, she was employed in the office of Dr. Hargarten and Boykowich and later at Scott National as a secretary.&nbsp; On July 12, 1952 she married Mike Cherkewich of Leross formerly of Prud&#39;home SK. at St. Mary&#39;s Church in Wolverine SK.&nbsp; She was very active around her home on the farm raising three boys, planting a big garden, looking after a big yard, and helping on the farm where she was needed.&nbsp; She was an active member of St. Vladimer&#39;s Church in Kelliher.&nbsp; In February 1990 she took up residence in Ituna and became a member of the Sacred Heart Parish and belonged to several clubs.&nbsp; She was active in the competition of carpet bowling, playing cards and Bingo.&nbsp; In March of 1996, she moved to Watrous to live with her brother Eugene Mudry.&nbsp; On April 1, 2004 she moved to St. Basil&#39;s Manor in Regina following her brothers passing.&nbsp; She enjoyed reading, listening to music, gardening, crocheting, and knitting and going to church.&nbsp; Her pride and joy were her 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.&nbsp; May she rest in peace.<br />The Funeral Service was held on Friday, Feb. 4th 2022 from St. Basil&#39;s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Regina with Fr. Waren Dungen officiating. Crossbearer was Jodi Cherkewich-Parks, Cari Lemieux gave the eulogy. The interment took place in the St. Vladimir and Olga Parish Cemetery at Kelliher with Shawn, Michael, Dawn &amp; Krista Cherkewich, Caril Lemieux and Erin Folgering serving as the casketbearrs.</p><p>&nbsp;<p>&nbsp;</p></p>
