Doris M. Cox, 86, of Pana passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born April 25, 1935 in Shelby County, IL to the late Henry & Edna (Raymond) Godwin. Doris married Elmer Wesley Cox, Sr. on June 13, 1953. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1990. She married Ronald Francisco in 1992 and he preceded her in death.
Doris was a member of the Henton Church of God, where she accepted Jesus as her savior and was baptized at Mud Creek. She also attended Pana Christian Church. She was a homemaker, raising and loving her 7 children, 17 grandchildren & 21 great grandchildren. Doris enjoyed reading & cooking and she was famous for her homemade beef & noodles, light rolls & pies. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children & grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her children: Elmer W. Cox, Jr. (Marlene); Sue (Larry) Berner; Vickie (Mike) Watson; John H. (Gail) Cox; Delbert (Trish) Cox; Tammy (Tim) Foster; daughter-in-law, Patty Cox; stepchildren: Tony Francisco, Rick Francisco, Sarah Elias; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and sisters: Ilena Steeby & Linda Sarver. In addition to her parents & husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Cox and siblings: Orville Leroy Godwin, Lois Cook, Leon Godwin & Henry Wayne Godwin.
A graveside service for Doris will be held Monday, January 31, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Tower Hill Cemetery with Pastor Dave Altman officiating.
Memorials in Doris’ honor may be made to Pana Christian Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
