George R. Canfield

August 27, 1947 – January 25, 2022

 

George Roland Canfield, age 74, of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the ProMedica Regional Hospital of Monroe.

 

Born on August 27, 1947, in Neosho, Missouri, George was the son of the late Roland E. and Maggie E. (Jordan) Canfield. His family then moved to Battle Creek, Michigan where he grew up. George attended and graduated from Kellogg High School. He then married the love of his life, Debra Fleming Gilbert, on May 5, 2005, in Monroe.

 

George made his living at Ford Motor Company. He started his career as a painter and eventually moved on to being a driver. In his free time, George enjoyed watching football. He also loved cars.

 

To cherish his memory, George leaves his loving wife, Debra; children: John Boughton, Jr., Scott Canfield, and Michelle Mobbs; and five grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Troy Canfield; and siblings: Vivian, Ed, and Dee Canfield.
