McQueen "Sonny Boy" Robinson Obituary

McQueen “Sonny Boy” Robinson, 90, was born August 31, 1931. He peacefully entered into eternal rest at his home on South Carlisle Street in Bamberg SC. He was the widower of Dorothy Nimmons Walker Robinson.

Born to the late Clarence and Almeta Busby Robinson in Cope, SC, McQueen attended public schools in Cope, SC. He was a faithful and longtime employee with the J. F. Clerkley Paving and Construction Company, working there until 1990.

Mr. Robinson attended Canaan Methodist Church in Cope, SC and later joined his family and was baptized at Capernaum Missionary Baptist Church in Denmark, SC.

Along with his parents and his wife of over sixty-seven years, Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters; one daughter, Alzena Robinson; two sons, Dannylee Corbett and Charles Robinson; two grandsons, Avery Robinson and Clarence Robinson, II; and one nephew, Nathaniel Walker.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are two sons, Clarence (Renee) Robinson and Harold (Stephanie) Robinson both of Charlotte, NC; three daughters, Dorothy Ann Robinson of Denmark, SC and Vernica Hightower and the Honorable Rosa (Michael) Verner both of Bamberg, SC; one daughter-in-law, Clara Robinson of Orangeburg, SC; one brother, Nathaniel Robinson of Bamberg, SC; one sister, Dorothy Mae Jamison of York, PA; one cousin reared as a brother in the home, Elijah Busby of Summerville, SC; one brother-in-law, Elliot “Mutin” Walker of Bamberg, SC; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Lewis of Brooklyn, NY and Eva Mae Walker of Bamberg, SC; one nephew reared in the home, Ulysses Gissentanner of Albany, GA; two grandsons reared in the home, Antonio L. (Ashley) Robinson of Goose Creek, SC and Brandon Robinson, Sr. of Las Vegas, NV; one great-grandson reared in the home, Brandon Robinson, Jr.; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one special cousin, Flossie Mae Holman of Bamberg, SC; two special nephews, James Walker and  Terry Ervin Gissentanner of Bamberg, SC; and a host of other nephews, nieces, and cousins.
