Zelda Turley

Zelda Bushman Turley passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022. She was born in Joseph City, Arizona, to Jesse Smith Bushman and Sarah Elva Porter on November 4, 1931. She was born in the two-story red brick house that her Grandfather John Bushman finished in 1890 with the encouragement of his wife, Lois Angeline Smith. Zelda grew up on a farm family during the Great Depression. Though they had little of earthly possessions, they always had plenty of good food. She attended grade school through the tenth grade in Joseph City and the last two grades of high school in Holbrook, Arizona. Zelda married Robert S. Turley, also from Joseph City, in the Mesa Arizona Temple on April 28, 1950. They lived briefly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Lake Charles, Louisiana before moving back to Arizona so Bob could attend the University of Arizona with Zelda’s encouragement. After he graduated, they lived in Phoenix and Glendale, Arizona, the remainder of their lives. Zelda was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bob passed away on November 16, 2017. They are survived by their children Robert (Meralee), Richard (Susan), Virginia (Steve), Bruce (Lee), Becky (Doug), Joseph (Penny), and Elizabeth (Doug). They had 29 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren. Family and faith were of Zelda’s highest priority, and she spent a good part of her life serving both. There will be a viewing at Heritage Funeral Chapel at 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd., Peoria, Arizona 85381 on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
