Elaine Marie Ane Sapara

Elaine Sapara (April) was born on October 19, 1948, the youngest child of Jean-Marc April and Mathilda (Beaulieu) April.  She had two older brothers, Raymond and Maurice.  Elaine was born in Avonlea, Sk. and attended school in Zenon Park. She then went to the convent in Prince Albert for a year.

She met the love of her life, Garth Sapara through mutual friends in 1968 and they married on June 30, 1970.  Prior to getting married Elaine attended Marvel Beauty School in Saskatoon. She worked as a hairdresser for many years running her own Hair Salon in Yorkton, until they got married. She then ran a salon in her home in Killaly for many years, while raising her children and working with Garth in the family business - Sapara’s Discount Centre.

Elaine and Garth were blessed with three children. Kim was born in 1973, Troy in 1976  and Lee in 1981.  Elaine enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, and was a very good cook.  She was always very involved in her community during her years in Killaly.  She was active in Killaly Parks and Recreation, as well as many other activities and interests. Faith played a large role in Elaine’s life and led her to be very active with St. Elizabeth’s Parish.   She was a youth group leader for many years and was an excellent role model for teen’s growing in their faith.  She was able to do this with her husband and they attended many youth rallies all over the province with the teens.  Once they moved to the lake she also became very involved with the parish in the Valley - Sacred Heart of Mary Church at Cowessess.

Elaine Sapara passed away peacefully at Melville St. Peter’s Hospital on Monday, January 24, 2022 at the age of 73. She was predeceased by her parents, Jean-Marc in October of 1988, Mathilda April in February 2019 and Father-in-Law Wilbert Sapara in October of 2004.

Elaine will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Garth Sapara and their children Troy Sapara, Lee Sapara and Kim (Glen) Gelowitz.  She also leaves to cherish her memory; grandchildren Paige (Riley) Bloodworth, Breanne Gelowitz, Brady (Sam) Gelowitz, as well as her great-granddaughter Haydyn.

Elaine is also survived by her brothers - Ray (Zoria) April and Maurice (Pauline) April and their families. Her mother-in-law Mary Sapara will miss her greatly too.

Elaine was blessed with many friends and relatives that held a special place in her heart.
