Thomas E. Springer Sr.
Madison-Thomas E. Springer Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Medical Center with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Perth Amboy, NJ, on November 14, 1939, the son of the late Emil and Florence Thompson Springer. Tom was raised in New Jersey and was a graduate of Woodbridge High School. In 1958, he was united in marriage to Shirley Harbachuk. In 1976, Tom and his family relocated to Madison.
Prior to moving to Madison, Tom had worked as a carpenter under the local Carpenter’s Union of New Jersey. From 1976-2013, Tom had been owner-operator with his tractor trailer. In later years, he had operated as a transport escort business for oversized loads. Tom also had a custom plowing business, assisting farmers with customized field plowing. He always enjoyed anything with a motor; if Tom was not tinkering with it, he was driving it. He loved anytime, he could hit the diner for a coffee and a friendly visit with friends. He was devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed by all that loved him.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley, of Madison; his children: Thomas E. Springer Jr., and his wife Barb, Michael Springer and his wife Martha, of Bouckville, Terry Hawk and her husband Jeff, also of Bouckville; his sister Sally McCallen of Seaside Park, NJ; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Emil and Florence.
