Reva Alice Lee Obituary

Reva Alice Lee, 91, passed away at 6:40 P.M. Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the home of her daughter, in the care of Hospice, from heart failure that was accelerated after breaking her hip in a fall in October. She was born on April 19th 1930 in Cannelville Ohio, as stated on her birth certificate, but we all knew that “down home” was Hackney, Ohio in Morgan County with her maternal family, The Allens and The Hutchins.  She was the daughter of the late Frank Raymond Weinstock and Mabel Bessie (Allen) Weinstock.  Mom was a “change of life” baby so when her father was tragically killed in a logging accident a few days after Pearl Harbor, and with her 4 siblings, Mary, James, Lena and Raymond, all grown, she and her mother moved to Zanesville where her mother found work in the downtown hotels and, later, mom did as well as a cook.  She met Dad, James Clifford Lee, and they married on March 19, 1949 and became a mother of 6.

She and Dad opened Lee’s Bakery that supplied baked goods to local factories, restaurants and hospitals for 15 years then bought The Newark Lounge in 1972.  With the changes in the club scene in the mid 1980’s the family re-established the business as The Olde Falls Inn Restaurant and Pub before selling and retiring in 1992.

Mom was a great reader of detective crime novels and tell-all biographies of her favorite celebrities and historical figures.  She also liked to play cards (for REAL money) with her late night poker buddies, traveling, especially to Las Vegas, and, later in life, playing bingo. She also enjoyed watching golf and competitive figure skating and was a “Jeopardy” devotee

Surviving her are 5 of her children.  James Lee Jr, Deborah Carroll, Barbara Mohr, Rebecca Lee (Sonny Klimczyk) and Jeffery (Margie) Lee. 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  She was also  “Aunt Reva” to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her husband of 63 years, Jim, who passed  on August 28th 2012 of a cerebral hemorrhage.   Also her beloved daughter Sandra Jean who died suddenly, of a cerebral hemorrhage, at the age of 21 on May 29, 1973.

A cremation will take place with no services as per Reva’s wishes.  Her ashes will be interred along with Dad’s at a later date in her family’s plot at Smith’s Chapel in Hackney... where she expects you to make the drive to visit. The family would like to thank Shiver’s Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
