William Fred Bevis, Jr.

<p>William Fred Bevis, Jr. passed away January 20, 2022, at the SC Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, SC.</p> <p>Mr. Bevis was born in Union, SC in 1932. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1952, qualified and served aboard several US Navy submarines and surface ships and retired from the Navy in 1982. He went on to retire from both Cummins Engine Co. and the Charleston County School District. He lived the old saying that idle hands are the devil&rsquo;s workshop. After retiring from the Navy, he became a long-time resident of the Isle of Palms, Charleston, and the Summerville area. However, the Navy was always his passion and his life.</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, William Fred Bevis, Sr. and Addie Rebecca Miller-Bevis; his wife, Barbara L. Pyles-Bevis; two sons, Steven and David; and six brothers and sisters. He is survived by one son, John Bevis of Jacksonville, FL and several grandchildren.</p> <p>Arrangements are being made by J. Henry Stuhr Northwoods Chapel - North Charleston and Mr. Bevis will be interred beside his sister Martha in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens &ndash; Spartanburg, SC. William Fred Bevis, Jr. passed away January 20, 2022, at the SC Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, SC.

Mr. Bevis was born in Union, SC in 1932. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1952, qualified and served aboard several US Navy submarines and surface ships and retired from the Navy in 1982.
