Margaret McClain Obituary

Ms. Margaret McClain passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Avista Nursing & Rehab in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 85 years. She was born September 22, 1936, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Willie and Jimmie Mae (Kendrick) Hooks.

Margaret was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School. Margaret confessed Christ at an early age. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Church where she worked with the Youth Department. Margaret’s employers included Kolette and Ray’s grocery stores, General Motors (Saginaw Parts Plant), and Saginaw Steering Gear, where she retired. She enjoyed playing and working with children, gospel music, dressing sharp, and spending time with family. Margaret married Governor McClain and to that union three sons were born.

Margaret leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Alice Webster; daughter-in-law, Leslie McClain, Texas;  two step-sons, Jeff (Sharon) Hill, Saginaw, Michigan, and Craig (Jessica) McClain, Virginia; three stepdaughters, Katrina McClain, California, Lisa Holmes, Alabama, Vanasa McClain, Texas; six grandchildren, Candase Noel, Dontea (Trina) Fairris, Anthony Delshanta Clifton, Christopher Walker, Adrian Webster, Gerial Evans, and Donta Harrison; nine nieces, Pat Pierson, Lois Robertson, Denise Pierson, Freida Pierson, Jackie Washington, Loretta Washington, Nita McClain, Kay McClain, Lynn Johnson,  and Dorothy Clayton; 5 nephews, Lonnie Johnson, Don Washington, Eldridge Washington, Larry Pierson, and James Reynolds; two sisters-in-law, Marie McClain, Mississippi, and Pearl McClain; special friend, Jean Evans.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Jimmie Mae Hooks, sons, Robert Kennedy McClain, Anthony McClain Sr., and Gregory McClain; sisters; Artie Washington, Rebecca Harper, Mattie Pierson, Tassie Johnson, and Ella Mae Johnson; one brother, Charles Kendrick; grandchildren, Anthony and Antonio McClain, Shon, and Gregory Webster; nephews, Curtis Washington, Melton Pierson, and niece, Gwen Huell.
