Burial with military honors will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Ipswich, SD. Raymond passed away Monday, January 24th at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

Raymond Rieger was born October 18, 1933, to John and Lillian (Sieler) Rieger on a farm near Bowdle, SD. His family moved to Mountain, ND in 1934 and then to Aberdeen in 1945. Raymond graduated from Central High School in 1952.

Raymond married the love of his life, Charlotte Hoerner in Aberdeen. He entered the U.S. Army on July 12, 1956, and was stationed at Camp Leroy Johnson, New Orleans, Louisiana. He was honorably discharged from the Army on July 12, 1958.

Raymond worked at numerous places over the years, including Beadle Floral and Nursery, Kusler’s Standard, Mclaughlin Electric, and Walmart. He loved his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed motorcycles, restoring cars, sports, gardening, and fishing. Raymond worked on many projects with his twin brother, Ed. Raymond was a Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. He never missed a game. Raymond had a green thumb and was an excellent gardener. He turned his entire backyard into a large garden, where he grew an abundance of vegetables and beautiful flowers. Every year he perused the seed magazines, looking for something new and different to grow. He also created a special garden “dining” section for the rabbits and other wildlife.
