Charles Lee JOHNSON Obituary

Charles Lee Johnson Jr. (Chuck) became present with the Lord on January 19, 2022. Chuck was a lifelong resident of Dayton, Ohio, born on April 25, 1952, to his loving parents, Wanda Lee and Charles Lee Johnson Sr.

Chuck graduated from Roth High School in 1970. After graduating, Chuck joined the United States Air Force. Chuck served his country with dedication and pride and received an honorable discharge in 1971. After returning from the Air Force, later that same year, Chuck welcomed his pride and joy, his first daughter, Charlotte. In 1971, he welcomed his second daughter, Tavarae, in 1975, who he always referred to as “his baby”.

To know Chuck was to love Chuck. He would brighten the room with his laughter, love, and one-of-a-kind phrases. He loved to be around family and friends; the party didn’t start until he got there. Chuck was truly one of a kind and a legend in his neighborhood. Chuck was determined to live as he wanted, to the end.

Chuck is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Charles L. Johnson Sr., and Wanda Johnson, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and several other Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and close friends. He leaves to cherish his precious memory and celebrate his legacy, his only sibling, and strongest advocate, Treva (Larry) Olinger, daughters, Charlotte (Phillip) Bass, and Tavarae (Jamie) Priest, very special grandson, best friend, protector, and caretaker, DeLeon Bass, grandsons, Daniel Coates, Aaron Coates, Jamie Priest Jr., granddaughters, Donalle Moon, Destiny Bass, and Brooklynn Priest, Great Grandchildren, Dionna and Neveah Ward, Josiah and Kaylee Coates, one special nephew, Muhammad Yazeed (Tracy) Hardy, as well as host of many other friends and family. Chuck will be dearly missed, and his memory will continue to live in the hearts and minds of everyone that he touched over the years. In the words and spirt of Chuck, “Mind your manners, I come from a long line of Southern Gentlemen”.
