Bridget Young
November 9, 1936 - January 23, 2022


Passed away peacefully in the presence of family at the Lions Manor Nursing Home, Placentia on January 23, 2022, Bridget (Bride) Young age 85 years of St. Bride’s.

Predeceased by her husband John Young, parents John T. (Jack) and Agnes Careen, and brother Neil Careen (wife Rosemary also deceased). She leaves to mourn her seven children: daughter Agnes (Eugene Drover), sons Dennis (Susan), Arthur (Valerie), Thomas (Ida), Ambrose (Anne Marie), Michael (Stephanie), and Martin; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings Henry Careen (Emma), Gertie Careen (Allan deceased), Eileen Voisin (John) and Nellie Careen; best friend and sister-in-law Mary Careen; as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.


Resting at Coombs Funeral in Placentia with visitation to take place on Monday, January 24th from 1-4pm and 5-8pm and Tuesday from 10-12 noon. Funeral Mass to be held at Sacred Heart Church in St. Bride’s on Tuesday January 25th at 2pm. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Prostate Cancer cause at the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family extends a very special thank-you to the Health Care staff at the Lions Manor Nursing Home. These individuals went above and beyond their call of duty and provided exemplary care to our Mom. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the care and attention you all gave to Mom and for the support you gave to us especially during these past few weeks of Mom’s life. We will be forever thankful. God bless you.




Out of an abundance of caution, we will continue to operate at 50% capacity (20 people per visitation room at one time and 50 guests, including staff and the officiant, for chapel services). All guests attending public visitations must be fully vaccinated and will be required to show proof upon entry.

For those unvaccinated, a private viewing can be arranged.
