Kenneth Aubry Trefry

TREFRY, Kenneth A.<br/>Smithfield / Trenton<br/>TREFRY, Kenneth A., of Smithfield, formerly of Trenton, passed away on January 18, 2022 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Kenneth was born in Stellarton on June 17, 1933, a son of the late Ernest and Gertrude (Coffill) Trefry. He left home when he was 16 and worked on a farm in Southern Ontario. He returned to Stellarton and worked in the beverage business. He was an employee of Maritime Beverages for 40 years working as a truck driver, Sales Supervisor, and retiring as Manager. Kenneth was an avid fly fisherman, an expert at tying flies. He loved wildlife and the St. Mary’s River, and was a well known story teller. He is survived by his son, Kenneth (Stella); grandson, Michael Trefry; son-in-law, Jim McKinnon; sister, Claire Foote (Ralph). Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Lillian (Earle); daughter, Sherrie McKinnon; sister, Mildred Dean (Burton); brothers, Whitman, Francis, Owen, Vernon, Harold and Royce. Cremation has taken place. A private Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating (view the livestream at www.mclarenfuneral.ca). Interment of his ashes will take place in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Thorburn at a later date. Donation in Kenneth’s memory may be made to the SPCA, Canadian Cancer Society, Palliative Care Society or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Drs. and Nurses at the Emergency Department of the Aberdeen Hospital for the excellent care he received during his many visits, as well as the Drs. and Nurses in the Palliative Care Unit for the kind and compassionate care given to Kenneth. A special thank you to his friends and neighbours who were so kind and thoughtful. All of you were very much appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.<br/>
