Shirley Ann Corporong – age 72, of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully with her family by her side in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on January 20, 2022. Born July 29, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Alva (Surette) Saulnier. In her earlier years, Shirley worked at Kennebec Fisheries. She also loved to line dance and was a line dance instructor. Shirley was a collector of MANY things and loved her hand-decorated angles. She also loved gospel music, especially “Lumber River Quartet,” and attended many live gospel events. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Bernie Corporong; brother, Delbert Saulnier, Yarmouth; and special friend, John Ogden. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Cleveland Saulnier. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A public visitation will be held Monday, January 24, 2022, from 7-9 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. This event will be limited to the first 50 people to attend, and proof of vaccination will be required. An invite-only service will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 2 P.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raymond Pitcher officiating. This service will be live-streamed on Sweeny’s Funeral Home Website. Interment will take place at a later date in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery.
