Malaine Geschke Obituary

Virginia Malaine (Wright) Geschke, age 89, of Syracuse passed away peacefully January 18, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society with her family beside her. She was born June 11, 1932 near Mullen, Nebraska to Florence (Simpson) and Wayne Wright. Her father passed away in 1938 when Malaine was only 6 years old. In 1942 her mother married Arch Baker of Weeping Water.
She married Maynard F Geschke Sr. February 1, 1951. After a life of farming, they retired and moved to Syracuse in 1995. Together, they had four children. Maynard Jr. and wife Marla of Lincoln, Barbara Lingle and husband Steve of Weeping Water, Bernard and wife Cindy of Papillion, and Brian and wife Carolyn of Dakota City. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; Melissa and Aaron Siefkin, Matt and Kourtney Geschke, Marty and Jill Geschke, Aaron and Amanda Lingle, Rhea and Curt Gross, Ryan Geschke and fiancé Tammy, Kayla Geschke, Clayton Geschke and special friend Stephanie, and Meredith and Brian Martinich. Eighteen great-grandchildren: Jordan Pulver, Taylor Siefken, Cora, Graham and Mila Geschke, Carter and Conner Geschke, Paige, Reese and Kylie Lingle, Brock, Rachel, Vivian and Case Gross, Bree and Ryder Geschke, Christopher and Alyssa Martinich. And many special friends and neighbors.
Malaine loved to garden, play cards and eat out with those special friends. She also did a lot of sewing throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Maynard Sr., January 6, 2009, her father in 1938, her mother in 1972, her step-father in 1979, half-sister Edith (Wright) Bogart, 1991 and half-brother Louis Wright in 1997.
Visitation will be at Hammons Family Funeral Services on Sunday, January 23 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with family attending from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral will be held at First Lutheran Church (North Branch) on Monday, January 24 at 10:30 am, masks required. Burial at the First Lutheran Church Cemetery beside her beloved husband of nearly 60 years.
