Joseph Pace Jr., 93, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He retired first as a CPO in the U.S. Navy and again as a Supervisory Computer Systems Analyst from NAVMASSO. Born in Lynn, MA, he was the son of the late Joseph Pace Sr. and Rosalia Carcione.
Joe was a member of Church of the Holy Apostles and the Knights of Columbus. Joe’s memory as a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather will long be cherished by his wife, Lynn of Chesapeake, VA; his brother, John F. Pace (Holly) of New Bern, NC; his daughter Susan P. Olson (Michael) of Chesapeake, VA; his granddaughters, Liz Olson (Sparsh) of New York, NY, and Katherine Detweiler (Eric) of Florence, SC; his great grandsons, Milo and August Detweiler of Florence, SC; and a large extended family including brother-in-laws and family, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Frank, sister, Rosina, and first wife, Rae.
He never knew a stranger and never went anywhere that he didn't find someone he knew. He enjoyed fishing, sports, wood-working, cooking, horse races, travel, gardening, reading, attending the theater, jigsaw puzzles and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at Church of the Holy Apostles Saturday, March 5th at 1:00 p.m. He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA will be caring for the arrangements.
