Shirley Tavernier, 90, of Chicopee passed on January 17th. She was born in Agawam on February 3rd, 1931 to the late Patrick and Gladys Coughlin. She was employed for many years at Big Y as a demonstrator, notably being their top representative for a period of time. Shirley enjoyed playing cards and games especially with her family. She was proud of her Irish heritage, “She wasn’t a singer, but she loved to”. But most importantly, Shirley loved to be with her family, and they will dearly miss the love of their Mother, Grandmother and Granny. She was predeceased by her dear husband Raymond A. Tavernier in 1987, as well as beloved daughter Candice Tavernier who passed on August 9th, 2018. She leaves a large and loving family to carry on her legacy including her daughter Michelle Belden and her husband Kenneth; her six cherished grandchildren: Kimberly Nichols and her husband James, Danielle Williams and her husband Brian, Kellyn Marston and her husband Kevin, Kyle Belden and his wife Lynette, Raymond Wilson, and Benjemin Beyer and his wife Madison; she also leaves her twelve dear great grandchildren: Anthony Nichols, Christopher Nichols and his fiancée Abigail Nadeau, Liam Corley, Bowen Williams, Abigail Belden, Jacob Marston, Brayden Williams, Zachary Belden, Ellery Williams, Lucas Marston, Faith Wilson, and Anastasia Beyer. Family and friends are invited for visiting hours on Sunday January 23rd from 1-3pm at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Rd Springfield. A funeral home service will be held on Monday the 24th beginning at 11am. She will then be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield.
