Susan M. Nammour Obituary

Susan Marie (D’Orto) Nammour, age 61, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, almost nine years after she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She was the loving wife of George Nammour, the ever-caring mother of Joseph and a longtime resident of Atkinson, NH.

Sue was born on September 19, 1960 in Lawrence, MA, a daughter to the late John and Grace (Ketchu) D’Orto. She graduated from Lawrence High School and attended Katharine Gibbs School in Boston, then Bentley College in Waltham and finally Southern New Hampshire University where she received a BS in Business.

Sue worked as a paralegal for most of her professional life. She started at Steinberg, Shaker, Lewis and James on Common Street in Lawrence, then at the law office of Peter H. Bronstein in Salem, NH, followed by Intercoastal Development Corp. in Rye, NH and finally at Soule, Leslie, Kidder, Sayward and Loughman in Salem, NH.

A free-spirited woman, Sue had two real passions: raising her son Joseph and traveling.  Her love of travel and adventure led her to develop ways to travel and stay in luxury hotels for free, which she loved to share with family and friends so they can also enjoy the fruits of her work and introduced so many to the joys of travel.

She was first published for her feat of managing to book two-around-the-world business tickets for free! It was easier for her to name where she hasn’t been then to list all the places she has visited.

Sue loved small dogs, especially Fox Terriers, and big cats. She traveled to a tiger sanctuary in Chiang Mai, Thailand, to pet these majestic creatures and was planning to visit India to see them in the wild. She also enjoyed playing Mah Jongg, sudoku and board games with her son.

In addition to her husband, Sue is survived by her son Joseph, his fiancée Katherine Porcaro, brother John D’Orto, his wife Kim and son Zachary, niece Kristina Vieweg and her family, nephew Matthew Pelletier and his family, aunt Diamond Floros, her husband Costas and children Petros and Katerina, and her loving in-laws' family in Sydney, Australia, Lor Nammour, Viviane Malkoun, her husband Afif and children Rita, George and Kim and their families, as well as many other family members both here and in Lebanon. She also leaves many dear and loving cousins and friends especially Rosie Cronin, Dorothy DiPietro, Marie Nicolosi, Asma El-Hachem, Tricia Lewis, Linda Tetreault, Joanne Young, Marie Dehne, Raelene O’Leary and their families. She was predeceased by her grandmother Antoinette and sisters Maryann and Linda.

Susan was an amazing woman who touched many lives. Her charity work will continue on providing clean and safe water for many communities in Africa. Online donations may be made in Susan’s memory to: https://www.charitywater.org/susannammour

Her memory will live on through all the loved ones she leaves behind. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.
