Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mother in her 94th year, Mary Regina Dalton of Harbour Main, born in Bacon Cove, Conception Harbour.  Predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Albert E., infant sons, Joseph and Gerald; parents, James & Agatha Kelly; brothers, Jim and Joe; sisters, Mary, Florence, Ann, Mildred and Eleanor; and members of the Dalton and Kelly families.

Leaving to mourn with treasured and loving memories, son, Albert Jr. (Valerie); daughter, Eleanor (Kenneth) Costello; grandsons, Kevin Costello (Megan and great granddaughter Emma), Joseph Costello (Teri), Andrew Dalton; granddaughter, Heather Dalton and step-grandchildren Adam Noel and Brittany Hyde (Jeff).

Our mother has many loving and devoted relatives residing in the United States who have always been an important part of her life – sisters-in-law Alberta Kelly, Peggy Kelly and their families; Gerri Peddle and the Peddle family, John Gushue and the Gushue family, Mary Kelly, Dan Merritt and the Merritt family and the Kennedy family.

There were so many people in our mother’s life who were so kind and supportive to her, especially her nieces, Mary Dalton and Lucille Wall (Robbie), her lifelong friend of 70 years, Minnie Dalton, special friend of 40 years, Gloria MacDonald, and the Neary family.

We would like to thank Dr. Paul Walsh and his staff, as well as the staffs of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, the Leonard A. Miller Centre, and Admiral’s Coast Retirement Centre for their extraordinary care and support of our mother.

Our mother was a beautiful lady who was admired and respected by all who knew her.  We remember her for the compassionate love of her family, her kindness and consideration to others, and the deep devotion to her faith, rarely missing a Sunday Mass.

As per Covid-19 Level 4 Restrictions, the Covid Passport and a Photo ID will be required to attend the funeral service. The funeral service is private and by invitation only (for those invited to attend the service, please arrive 15 to 20 minutes prior to the service so the ushers may scan your NL VaxPass and seat you.) A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Harbour Main on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11:30 am with interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Avondale. For those unable to attend the service, the mass will be livestreamed at the link available below.

In her memory, we know our mother would love for you to say a prayer for her, your families, and your loved ones. If you wish, you may show your support in a way that you feel reflects the spirit of our mother through an act of kindness, flowers to the church, or a donation to a charity of your choice.
