John Ronald Helman, 87, of Johnstown, passed away on January 17, 2022 in Nashville, TN. Ron was born in Johnstown, PA to John Glendon and Pauline Virginia Helman in 1934. He was a member of the 1952 class of Richland Township High School. He attended the University of Buffalo where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Kappa fraternity. Ron's four years of service in the U.S. Air Force included a two-year deployment to Japan. Ron was employed by Tremco (a division of B.F Goodrich) retiring after 28 years of service. Ron's talent for building sales territories and mentoring salesmen carried his family on a cross country journey including stops in Colorado, New Mexico, Tennessee, Florida and North and South Carolina. But Ron always found his way back to Johnstown to care for his family. A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Johnstown, PA, Ron served on the Board of Deacons and Board of Elders. He enjoyed being part of the Men's Group and working in the church kitchen. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, sister Kathryn Ann Scanlon, and brother Robert Diller Helman. Ron's family is grateful for his faith, love, and leadership. A consummate optimist and man of great integrity, Ron is survived by his beautiful wife and dance partner, Corrine, and children, James Helman, MD, COL (Ret.) and Marilyn Denis, Cheryl Taylor and David, (MAJ Ret.), Kathryn and Ronald Chucan, and Eric and Joellyn Helman.
