Sarah Elease Kirkwood Obituary

SARAH ELEASE (NEWMAN) KIRKWOOD, was born in McBee, Sourth Carolina on March 17, 1935. She was the 2nd child and only daughter born to Carnell (McFarland) Newman and Edward Exodus Newman (both deceased).
She and her siblings relocated to Mizpah, New Jersey by way of South Carolina in 1943. Sarah attended the local schools and graduated from Egg Harbor High School in 1953.
She then married her high school sweetheart, Rudolph V. Kirkwood that same year. Out of this union, four children were born: Darryl Keith, Kevin, Raynina, and Derrick.
Because of her life as a military wife, she enjoyed traveling to different cities and countries. She chose to work for an airline so that she could expose her children to different cultures and experiences. Sarah worked for Allegheny/USAir/USAirways/America West/American Airlines for over 23 years. She would at times take relatives on her travels. Normally it was the three musketeers, Sarah, Nina and Melony.
Sarah supported all sports events that her children were in during their Jr and High School years. She was a Den Mother for the Boys Scouts. She was a PTA parent. She volunteered to bake cookies whenever requested, which was always. She was there for a friend in need always.
She would literally give you her last dime or the shirt off her back. She was never one to ask for assistance but was always willing to give. She really hated to see people in need and wanted to do her part to help.
Sarah was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011 and struggled with this until she departed this life in Winchester, CA, on January 10, 2022.
She leaves to mourn: three sons, Darryl Keith(friend Juanita) of Nanjemoy, MD, Kevin (Cora) of Gilroy, CA, Derrick(Grace) of Stevenson Ranch, CA, one daughter, Raynina Frazier of Winchester, CA. Also, four brothers, Edward, Charles, Tyrone and Bobby Joe all of New Jersey. Nine grandchildren; Adam, Melony, Ebonee, Rachel, Joy, Amber, Mariah, Kristine and Samantha. Four greatgrandchildren; Nina, Noah, Jeremiah and Shuri and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Sarah is preceded in death by her brothers, Coel McFarland, Alvin, and Julian Newman.

Love has no bounds. It extends beyond this life.
Family.
