Herbert Leeton Ansell, 87, born in South Norfolk, Virginia on October 17, 1934, went to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on January 17, 2022.

He is predeceased by his parents, Lacy Carroll Ansell, Sr. and Nettie Louise Hardy Ansell, along with his brother, Lacy Carroll Ansell, Jr.

Herbert graduated in 1954 from South Norfolk Highschool, where he was a star football player and from there a dedicated member of the National Guard. He was self-employed as a land developer, a builder, and the owner of Lifetime Homes. Aside from working, he thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing which stemmed from his childhood growing up as an avid duck and goose hunter from Knotts Island, North Carolina. Later in life, there was no greater pleasure than spending time at his farm with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Smith Ansell; his sons, Colby Ansell and Shannon Ansell; three grandchildren, Courtney Meeks (Zachary), Chandler Ansell (Jordyn), Jarrett Ansell; and three great grandchildren, Addisyn Meeks, Axel Meeks and Rylan Ansell.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake from 5-7pm. A service will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 11am. Following the service, the family invites you to join them in the reception center at the funeral home for a time of food and fellowship.
