GREGORY J. WALTERS

<p>Gregory J. Walters, 68, of Piqua, passed away at 4:12 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born November 30, 1953 in La Grange, Indiana to the late Wilbur and Charlene (Jackson) Walters.</p> <p>Greg is survived by his sisters, Kathy (Jerry) Griffith, Connie Mann, and Kris (Bob) Send; nieces and nephews, Tammy Ross, Brandy Bettencourt, Jamie Mann, Alex Griffith, Zachary Griffith, Emily Send, and Craig Send.</p> <p>Greg&rsquo;s greatest love was printing. In 1968 he ordered a mini, hand press from a catalog. He printed a two page &ldquo;paper&rdquo; for neighbors with his own cartoons of the Tiger/ Cardinals World Series. The Tigers won in seven. During high school he talked the school into having a printing office, which he ran. He printed programs and tickets for all events. Greg studied printing at Ferris State, Big Rapids MI. His career took him to Piqua, NYC and back to Piqua. He was passionate about saving letter press printing and collected equipment for future generations. His collection will belong to a foundation to preserve letter press equipment. Greg was in a streaming movie about letter press called Pressing On.&nbsp;</p> <p>Greg loved steam trains and had achieved his dream of visiting every one of them in the country. Greg had a beautiful tenor voice. He was in choir during high school and later sang at Karaoke. He enjoyed the arts, opera, ballet and plays.&nbsp;</p> <p>Greg was a huge Lady Gaga fan. An original Little Monster, he went to 27 concerts in many cities. He would stand in line for hours to be in front of the Monster Pit. He ate at Gaga&rsquo;s father&rsquo;s restaurant in NYC. Greg was generous and treated his sisters and nieces to Gaga concerts and converted them into Lady Gaga fans too.&nbsp;Greg lived life the way he wanted to. He was inspiring, passionate, lover of the arts, had a big laugh, always thoughtful and kind. You will be missed.&nbsp;</p> <p>A service to honor his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Knights of St. John. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, at the Knights of St. John as well.
