Lucien Sabourin Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Lucien Sabourin on January 17, 2022 at the Chalet Malouin in St-Malo at the age of 82.

He is survived by the mother of his children Huguette (née Marion), children Edmond (Karen Chanowski), Rachelle (René Lemoine), Jocelyne (Ken McMullan); 8 grandchildren and their families, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Derek, Richard, Rossel, Roxanne, Patrick and Janelle; 4 great grandchildren Daniella, Lex, Avery and Félix. He will be remembered by his sisters Emma (Ulysse) Fillion, Imelda Maynard and Yvonne (Edouard) Gosselin.

He was predeceased by his parents Alphonse and Blanche (née Morrissette), siblings Arthur, Camille, Léo, Cecile (Papineau), Agathe (Trudel) and Angèle (Gosselin).

Throughout his life, Dad loved gardening. He especially took great pride in his prize-winning tomatoes and cantaloupes. He enjoyed camping, fishing, bird watching and traveling with his family. In his later years at the Chalet, Dad spent many hours playing shuffleboard, crib and doing puzzles. Dad will also be remembered for his story telling and jokes.

Dad’s greatest pride and joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved them deeply and kept them in his daily prayers. He had a strong faith, which he relied on throughout his life’s challenges.

Due to the pandemic, a private family service will be held at a later date.

Family wishes to thank the staff at Chalet Malouin and St. Pierre Hospital for their compassionate care they provided especially during the last few weeks of his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me
And I’m not there to see;
If the sun should rise
And find your eyes
All filled with tears for me;
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you’ll miss me too
So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I’m right here, in your heart.

Rest in Peace Dad. Till we meet again…
